corytophanes cristatus - helmeted basilisk,

Is it normal for this lizard to show different coloration? Do they mimic chameleons?

They can change colors to some extent...but not nearly like chameleons do.

There are three species...Corytophanes cristatus, Corytophanes hernandezi and Corytophanes percarinatus.

Hernandezi is very easily identified by the "spike" they have on the cheek area. The other two are a little more difficult to tell apart.

Two are egglayers and one is a live bearer.
