Help! Escape!

My son left the lid off our crested's cage last night. We've looked and looked and can't find him. Any suggestions on how to find an escaped crested gecko? I'm thinking to wait until after nightfall since I know he usually sits perfectly still all day so no one will eat him. Would he go back to his cage for food?

Check dark corners, behind curtains, other folds of fabric, spaces behind doors, cupboards etc that are open. You can try leaving out dishes of crested gecko food near the cage etc. Being small and very good at climbing they certainly can be located anywhere in the room they are housed. I would close the door to teh room if at all possible to hopefully limit him to that room. I dont' think they would go too far away in a single night, so should still be in the room.

You certainly can wait till dark and with a flashlight go looking for your missing crested gecko.

i would put food and water in the cage with the lid off, i had a gecko escape at college spring of 05 and it was gone for a week and a half. i had been putting out food and water and finaly was able to track it down, it was apparent that it had been visiting the food and water. when u find it, make sure that u mist it heavily to give it plenty of acces to drinking water, and leave a bowl of fresh water and food in there immediately. if you dont have any cats or dogs, im sure it will turn up.

My cresteds both got out when they were babies. Luckily I found them both, nearby INSIDE the woven wicker of a basket. It was the perfect hiding place, and a nightmare to get them out. Don't give up! Chances are you'll find them again.
