baby slider question

foxykitty911 May 31, 2006 11:48 AM

i just got a baby red ear slider yesterday from less than great conditions. no hes set up in a great tank with a basking area. he wont really leave the basking area. he stays in the shallow water near the basking spot. is that normal? do they swim a whole lot at this age(hes a little under a 1 1/2 inch) is he afaid of the deeper water?

He is not afraid of deep water. Don't worry about that. He is probably just steadying himself in the shallow water. These guys are born to swim so they really stand little chance of drowning in water that is a little bit deep.

As long as he is eating and moving around a bit and climbing up to bask I wouldn't worry too much.
