Awesome. Those are melanistic cali kings... Some refer to them as Mendota or Davis cali kings as well.. I've been trying to get some of those for some time but they don't usually pop up in the market.

Then they would be melanistic..BUT they aren't Mendotas nor Davis.

Because Mendotas and Davis cali kings have patterns right Kerby.

This one was found about a mile from the first aberrant listed above.

Thanks for posting those. On other forums this year I've seen that people have found these hypermelanistic cal kings. So they are now being found in other locales. I'm sure that it is the same recessive gene. I know my hypermelanistic Mendotas are recessive. Next year when my Davis cal kings are big enough to breed I will be breeding them to the Mendotas.

If you don't mind me asking, who did you get those from?

The last 2 look more like Mexican Black Kings.

The top one maybe but the bottom ones...

can you get better head pics. From the top and in profile.

the1eyedsnake May 31, 2006 07:44 PM

The 1st one looks like nitida the 2nd two look like nigrita

MartinDK Jun 01, 2006 09:00 AM

Well 110 % sure not nigrita I have had ALOT of these snakes, so I am tottaly sure there..... but I agree on the pics it looks lige nigrita, in "real" they are all pretty "marked" on the sides like on the first pic....... my best bid would also be "Coastel" but agin I could be wrong

MartinDK Jun 01, 2006 09:20 AM

And....if it helps.... they are het. snow....They have been bought by another danish guy, how got them from a friend in florida...

MartinDK Jun 02, 2006 09:42 AM

Some pic from today that might help!?
It is alittel easier to see on these pic that they are not so dark and it is possibly to see the markings on the sides...
( Sorry for my bad english )
Regards Martin
