Vietnamese Blue Beauty or Taiwan Beauty

reptilesmendoza Jun 01, 2006 06:58 PM

Hi, I'm planning on buying a taeniura but I cannot decide between the Vietnamese Blue Beauty or the Taiwan Beauty. And I want to know if anyone has both of them and can tell me the positives and negatives things of each one, for example which is the more easy to breed. Thanks.

I keep and breed both species, and between the two I'd say there is not a real difference in breeding. However, in my experience the Taiwans tend to be a better adult pet. It is more common for the Blues to get feisty and/or nippy as they get older. Also, the Blues tend to be trickier to get to eat as hatchlings. I've had to tease feed some blues for their first 8 or 10 meals and had to use live food for some. All of the Taiwans I've bred have eaten f/t right out of the egg, most with no teasing. If they did need to be teased, they ate without teasing after their first meal. Other than those small issues, they are very similar snakes. Comes down to what color you prefer.

Thanks Bryan, I think I'll start with the taiwan and then pass to the vietnam.
