Web Page Question

BurmMania Jun 02, 2006 08:02 AM

How does a person go about making their own web page? I don't know at all how that works, or where to start so II would appreciate it if someone at least could tell me how to make my own site and then maybe I can dink with it from there. Thanks in advance

Go to Google and search on "build website", html, CSS, etc. There is tons of information out there. You can also go to the www.w3.org.

Lots of stuff so don't be overwhelmed. The key is to do it right.

Hi there. You can have a site up and running, waiting for visitors in about 5 minutes. There are a number of free site hosting places out there (try tripod.com, for one). Your free site will most likely have annoying pop-up adds on it, but will be very easy to load text and pictures into. You be somewhat contrained as to the layout, but at least you'll have a home. For a small monthly fee, most of these sites allow you to upgrade to a no-ad page with plenty of space and bandwith. Most sites will also allow you to upgrade to a site that supports Microsoft Frontpage. Frontpage is easy to use, and you should be fairly comfortable working in that platform if you have already mastered other MS applications (like MS word, powerpoint, etc.). With frontpage, you do not need to know HTML code. IN fact, you can use Frontpage to teach yourself HTML if you're so inclined. Local community colleges often offer a class in frontpage. You'll learn how to create all the neat effects you see out there on the WWW. Good luck!

and if you get into those applications mentioned and need additional help please let us know, many on here have been there done that, and some of us actually have done this for a living (prior... not sales or promotional post, LOL) and are more than happy to help!
