I am in NW Florida, and my parents neighbor found this guy in some brush in his yard. Couldn't really get a body shot without stressing him out. The body is long and slender and he likes to climb. My first guess was a grey rat snake, but he is not really grey, more brown. Anyhow, and ID would be appreciated.

Its probably got black, gray, and yellow rat in its background.

...you didn't give any exact locale but it's a gray. It doesn't have any striping along the neck area does it???

Looks a lot like a Texas Gopher snake

That is a Gray Rat Snake.
