Manual manipulation by the vet would not work on the eggs.
Open "snake" Surgery was done and the eggs were removed. Snake is doing very well but will be kept for observation over night. Thank you for you information and well wishes in the previous threads.

Glad the procedure went well. What a relief, I bet both of you fell much better now.

two of the eggs that were removed have full appearance of being healthy. They will be incubated with a watching and hopeful eye to see them develop.

The snake is doing very well. She is awake , alert and moving around easily. Needless to say I am happy she is doing well but will use all i have learned from this experience to try to improve any little things in my husbandry that could have caused this in the first place. Of course its hard to say what exactly caused it, but I think we can all improve a bit in one way or another and I would like to prevent further animals from having to go through this if I can.

Good to hear. I'm sure you stated this already but what was her average weight before breeding?

dawnrenee2000 Jun 03, 2006 12:10 PM

actually no one has asked...and I dont think I have said.

She was around 550 Grams at the time of her first copulation. 700 right before she laid. and now after surgery and all eggs removed she is 468.

She is doing very well today. Alert and somewhat active and good strenth.

She was a good size. Probably a freak occurance. Does the vet know if she may breed again? I'm glad everything came out ok. If you don't mind saying, How much did the vet cost? We just went through a $2500 ordeal with our now 3 legged cat. He acts like it never happened. I was afraid he'd never be the same, but the vet said animals are very resiliant. I guess when you have animals, eventually something expensive is going to happen. My snakes haven't cost that much in vet bills (yet!). Good luck! Derek

The vet seems to think she will breed again just fine. I will give her next year off though.

The vet took digital pics of parts of the procedure for me as well as a video too. What a good vet huh? It was sort of neat to see how they actually anestisiced the animal. Maybe I will post that soon for others to see. I am very pleased with the vet overall actually, including the billing. The Overall the bill was about $500 for the whole occurance. That includes the initial visit and xray. The surgery itself was 340.00.
