OK, Now for the Black Gap alternas

shaky Jun 02, 2006 03:50 PM

The two were caught by Dana Larsen and I (Jack Jeansonne) on Friday, May 26th.
It was a great night. We also caught a Trimorphodon, a hypo Hypsiglena, and what I keep calling an anery hypo atrox (I'm likely wrong, but the thing was like a ribbon of mercury).
This one was caught first, and we immediately gave it to Ed Acuna.

This one was caught later that night, but within a couple hundered yards of the first. Both were female, and Dana held onto this one. Both have eaten already.
These are the first alterna we've ever caught, and we've been hunting there for 4 years. Most of the nights we've been out there were rain-outs.

This gorgeous little critter was the first animal seen that night.

I was very excited about this weirdo. She's big and meaty - possibly gravid, but what in the world do you do with baby night snakes?

Wow this one is a screamer. Any chance you could post a bigger pic of the first one?

That black one - it was so hard to capture a good pic.
I can privately email you one if you want.

...you realize how incredibly lucky you two were that night. Most of us will be hit by a meteor before what you experienced happens. Very nice finds, congrats.
