Mojave rattler

metalpest Jun 02, 2006 09:52 PM

Went on some roads farther out of town last week and found this mojave, with fused diamonds on its neck giving it a sort of durissus look to it.

Another notable find was a basin gopher, strikingly different than the pacifics we are used to: such high contrasting pattern (pics came out fuzzy though)

It's just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus. All year long the grasshopper stored up acorns for winter, while the octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched tv. And then the winter came, and the grasshopper died, and the octopus stole all his acorns, and he got a race car. Is any of this sinking in?

Sorry to hear that, good luck finding more! They certainly are one beautiful snake. Found 3 the night we found this one, all AOR. Also 2 gophers 1 glossy AOR and one DOR gopher on the way back into town on a busier road than the main hunt.

Sweet Mojave Green. Love that pattern. Found a beautiful 3.5' Great Basin Gopher night driving out that way (Apple Valley) last week.
