my step brother have two unsexed juvinals that live in the same enclousure. the smaller of the the two is most deffinatly sick. he is telling me over the phone what is wrong. he is slumping ov er and is skinny he seems to not want to eat or drink he wont hold his head up legs limp and sprawl out whe it is sat down. when he picks it up it does look around once or twice then it will just drops its head back down and doesnt move. he says the color seems pale. eyes are closed most of the time but will open when he touches the lizzard. the other one seems to be active and healthy. im thinking that it has been forced to starve by the bigger one that it lives with or it may be dehydrated. I have him soaking right but thats all I know to do some "loose skin" and he can see alot of its bones because its so skinny. any help is greatly appreciated.

thanks
joel

The iguana needs a vet like yesterday.

You probably on the mark about the healthier intimidating/dominating the other to starve, not thermoregulate, and not bask. They're very territorial.

First thing is to seperate them. He definitely wont get better unless he is seperated from the other iguana.

Here are some articles that may help care for him until you can get him to a vet

Emaciation (Starvation) Protocal
Rehab Basics
Please let us know how he progresses.

Agreed.

Separate them, and each should have a properly spacious enclosure. Tell your brother to buy a book on iguanas as well. Does he have much experience with them?

2 iguanas is also a lot of money, work, and unless someone is experienced, I see things dim for both.

Go to vet, buy new enclosure, with proper lighting etc.., feed right, and hope for the best.

unfortionatly I called and learned that the iguana did not make it through the night. not much else to say except now the stronger wont have the stress of the younger one. not much else that can be done I will be going up there next weekend to check up on the one still alive. O hope from now on they will listen to me when I give them care advise.
