Scaleless Bitis??????

Ryan Shackleton Jun 04, 2006 01:20 AM

Was peeking around at some breeders' websites, and noticed Glades had scaleless puffs listed for sale. Anyone have a picture of these? I have never heard of a scaleless snake surviving long enough to attempt to sell it-not doubting Glades in the least, just interested.
Also, did Mardi(Coastal) go out of business? It's been quite some time since I have even checked what's for sale anywhere and tried coastalreptiles.com, got a link that said register your newq website-just curious.

Ryan: H. Bernard Bechtel discusses this anomaly in his book
REPTILE & AMPHIBIAN VARIANTS Colors, Patterns & Scales, published by Krieger in 1995. He mentions several snakes that lived to adulthood with the scaleless anomaly, including a Mole King that survived for at least 17 years.

The ISBN is 0-89464-862-4 ~~Greg~~

Keep an eye on the classifieds, Glades has posted the pair available several times over the past month or two. Very pricey, $2,500.00 each, yet they are truly breathtaking, and Capes too! WOWEEE WOW WOW WOW!

I wonder if they have shedding difficulties though, I remember an old reptile magazine article that told of this problem with scaleless snakes (I think it was with a scaleless water snake too, If I'm not mistaking)...

I know the breeder Glades aquired this scaleless puffs from in Germany. They are cb04 to my knowledge, and except having no scales
and just looking awesome, they are the same puff you get anywhere. They never refuse a meal and shed just normal.

If you ask me, this is a very undesireable trait...
