Florida Kingsnake temp. regulation.

Vice41765 Jun 04, 2006 09:25 AM

Hi everyone,nice to meet u.
Ihave a 1 yr old Florida King he/she seems very healthy and "happy".
I have a ten gallon aqu. small heatpad on outside of one end
of the tank.
The snake tends to hang out in it's favorite hiding spot which is
on the cooler side,i am sure that the warm side isn't too warm.
We keep our home in 70's when temps. drop near 70 he/she can be
found under it's second favorite hiding spot which IS on the warm
side'also he/she hangs out on warm side a couple of days after a feeding, digestion and shedding seems good.
One more thing if i pick the snake up from it's FAVORITE 'cooler'
hiding place it feels cold to the touch.but active.
Question being can my kingsnake be COMFORTABLE in the mid 70F range,it's seems so or should i move the FAVORED hiding spot to the warm side?
also i do not use a heat lamp just a cool flouro.
any input appreciated,Thanx

Everything your doing is right. If you want bring his favorite hide area over the UTH and another hide area in cool side.
all kings go in and out of warm areas and feel cool to the touch than ho back and feel warm to the touch . My king when a baby was in a 20 long tank with a cobra heat pad all the way on one side and he wold go between both sides.

Your temp in 70s is great with your UTH . My temps get even cooler at night but 3 yrs now he is big and great eater . Lives in 40 long tank now.
