i'm getting firebellies and need help

thefroglady08 Jun 04, 2006 04:06 PM

I've decided I want to get two firebellies. I'm going tomorrow to get a 10 gallon tank for them and a large water dish and other such fake plants and decorations and whatnot. My main concern is...what kind of substrate should I get? I'm using bed-a-beast for my others, but is that okay for the firebellies too? And any other words of wisdom you could provide would be incredibly useful.

Hi, I've had firebelly toads for the past 4 years and from my experience, they tend to stick to the water portions of the tank the most. I'm rearranging things for them right now as a matter of fact. I think bed a beast would work just fine. Mine were in a 29 gallon that was 2/3 land and 1/3 water. They never seemed to use the land much so I changed the tank to have 2/3 water and 1/3 land. Now...I hate it.......it's so boring...but they seem happy in the water though. Good luck.
