GHANA WEB (Accra) 28 May 06 Community deports crocodile woman
Beposo (GNA) : The Chief and People of Beposo, a farming community in the Wassa Amenfi East District, on Saturday deported Amina, a 60-year old Nigerian woman from the community for allegedly turning herself into a crocodile in River Edusiensu.
Nana Kwesi Tieku II, Chief of Beposo who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency at Beposo on Sunday, said the continuous stay of Amina in the community would cause too much fear and panic among the people and could impact negatively on day-to-day activities.
According to Nana Tieku, the woman came to the community last week Wednesday to visit his son, Habib, who is a farmer. He said at about 0430 hours three days later, three women from the community went river Edusiensu to fetch water and saw a big crocodile floating on the surface of the river.
Nana Tieku said the women run to the community and called for help. He said, some men took guns and cutlasses and rushed to the riverside but when they got there, they saw that part of the crocodile was a human body.
Nana Tieku said the crocodile went down the river and after sometime, Amina came out of the river and was taken to the Chief's palace. He said when Amina was questioned about what she was doing in the river, she said she was feeling warm in her room but did not know how she got into the river and pleaded with the chief and people to pardon her.
