Question about Snow Hondos

ArctikPro Jun 04, 2006 10:38 PM

Im still having some trouble understanding genetics but: an Amel crossed with an Anery will produce 25% or 100% snow offspring?

Nope- An amel crossed to an anerythristic will produce all normal-looking double heterozygous offspring. In order to get snows you have to cross these offspring to each other....

So produce Snows I would have to cross an Amel het anery to an Anery het amel correct?

Neither,I will try my best to explain. AmelxAnery=Normal looking Double het for snow and a good start. Snow Hondies are my favorite morph. They actually "glow" and the color that also enhances with age is incredible.
Good Luck,
Dave

Just to expand on what Dave (and I) said-Yes, crossing an amel het for anery with an anery het for amel will produce some snows. Also crossing two "double hets" for amel/anery....or an amel het anery to an amel het anery....or an anery het for amel to an anery het for amel....or breeding any of the above to a pure snow (this combo will produce the highest number of snow offspring, short of a pure snow to pure snow cross).....

So as you can see there are several ways to do it.

Work with this genetic wizard calculator for awhile and it will start to make sense to you.
