Black and white tongue

naturexchange Jun 04, 2006 10:47 PM

While I'm at it, here is the radio tagged olive morph in the Pine Bush after tracking her on Friday. A friend and student I'm working with noticed that she has a black and white tongue. So, by luck I was able to grab a shot of it. I checked all my old photos, and looked at my other hogs. All have black tongues. Anyone seen this before? It probably pops up in a few now and again.

Best,
Kenny B.

I think you are right Kenny, I don't usually pay attention to lingual coloration, but this one stands as something unfamiliar. I'd have to say that I haven't seen colors like that, longitudinal.

On the photo...thank the camera. If anyone is a field herper and gets wet often, is in ponds a lot, sand, saltwater or whatever....invest in the Pentax Optio WPi 6 mpx. You loose some things like good telephoto and there is a learning curve, but for herping, it never fails. I saw it advertised in Nat Geo, and I don't regret having my wife yell at me after I bought it.

Fully aquatic to 10 feet and TINY.

Kenny
