Keeping 1.1 Thayeri together year-round

philllll Jun 05, 2006 01:05 AM

Is it possible, or is there too big a risk of cannibalism? I currently have a male yearling MSP and would like to get him a girlfriend... I was just wondering if it would be alright to keep them together year-round, like I do with my pair of carpets. I realize that kingsnakes and carpets are two different worlds, but I was just wondering. Thanks in advance for everyone's help... it seems like of all the forums I follow here on ks.com, this one seems to have the most happy and helpful posters. :-D

I've kept thayeri together for extended periods but not year long.

Several of the other keepers here have had thayeri kill others during mating and one or two have had one eat the other.

Personally I like the idea but I'm too chicken to keep them together permanently. I like mine too much to try it, plus I've got a sizable investment in time and $$$.

True that... thanks for the info. It would be no problem for me to keep them separated for some of the year. Very nice looking animals you have there.

I personally would advise against it. Not worth the risk. mike
