Picked up a monster blue beauty.......

donv Jun 05, 2006 11:38 AM

this weekend at the Hamburg, Pa. show. He's got to be over 9'. Also the most "blue" blue beauty I've ever seen. What's the longest beauty any of you have encountered? Any good ideas on how to get a reliable measurement on an uncooporative grumpy giant? I'll try and get a few picks posted this week. Thanks, Don.

Cool - it's good to hear people can still get nice-looking blue beauties. Most of the ones I've seen recently look markedly different and seem to be smaller than the ones that first came to the US in 1997.

As for how to measure an ornery giant, good luck Maybe thick gloves and a face mask, LOL?

This is an old and fairly crummy picture (1997) of a 9-10 foot male fresh import:

Nice looking animal. What ever became of that guy? Mine is very thin, which is why I'm assuming he's wild caught. But by the same token he has no visible scars and is more docile than I would expect from a large adult wild animal. I had a pair of captive bred's a few years back that eventually calmed down, but the first couple of years they were the most ill tempered snakes I've ever owned, with the exception of a wild caught radiated rat that was apparently possesed by some evil force. Im gonna try and get some photo's tomorrow. BTW, do you know of any sources of nice blue females? Thanks, Don.

Serpwidget's "snake measurer" works just fine for me. Just do a yahoo search for it. You just take a pic with the snake and something you know the length of ( a dollar is 6" and then the snake mesurer measures it out for you.

Doesn't putting them in the freezer for quite a while work? I heard that it works with chickens. Look at all the chickens in the supermarket with their weights on them. Just kidding.
