UTH on ceramic tiles

DougS Jun 05, 2006 02:11 PM

Hi, I am getting my first snake on wed and have read previous posts about placing the UTH on ceramic tiles to make them portable. I have a 20L glass tank and attached the UTH to the tile and plugged it in to try to get my temps right before my snake arrives. The problem is when i set the tank on the tile the UTH doesn't touch the glass due the black plastic trim on the tank and the plastic part where the plug attaches to the UTH resulting in the tank not heating. How did you guys overcome this?

Thanks for your input and sorry for the rookie question,
Doug

I believe the tile with the UTH attached to the underside of it, goes inside the tank. The reason for the tile is to distribute the heat from the UTH over a larger area of the floor.

Thanks, that makes sense.
