About five or six years ago I saw a collared lizard in a local pet store and thought wow what a cute, colorful little lizard. And after a couple of years of searching I happened across a couple little guys at the petstore I work at.
now they may have been a little rough around the edges, and maybe they weren't the exact ones i was looking for but I decided i wanted to them. Soon after I got them I realized that Marv had a gimpy leg...along with a kinked tail and they both had mites. That is when i came to question my manager about the information i recieved about them. I was initially told that they were C.b.b at the main store and that they were close to a year in age, but when I talked to the lizard lady at the main store, she told me quite a different story. They were wild caught and bought at a herp show in southern WI, and were well over a year old. They had bought quite a few and these were the only ones left. They were sharing the same cage when I had purchased them, and with what i thought was young age i dismissed it, but looking back i realized they were sick and didn't have the energy to fight with each other. Over a year later they have gained about 5-10 grams a piece and are quite the cuties. They fit right in with my three legged dog,My vertigo dog, my adopted flighty water dragon, and the rest of my misfit pets and I couldn't be happier.
So... what's your collared story???
