A pic for Brandon,, plus a sad sad story......

Joel R Jul 31, 2003 07:24 PM

Brandon,, look familiar? He is looking great. Now,, on with the story,,

Just after I took this pic, my wife took him out to look at him. (She just got home from a 6 month deployment and is trying to catch up with all the animal activity. lol)
Anyway, this guy loves to be held and she was standing right in front of the baby rack and without warning, he took a dive into the 2 wk. old bin and had himself a snack. I grabbed him as fast as I could but he was like a pitbull. I had my wife grab an alcohol wipe right away to get him to let go but it was too late. He crushed the little guys head.
My poor wife felt soooo bad. I guess she learned the hard way.

I just thought, I would share that with you all. Hopefully you can learn from our mistake and don't think for a second, the big boys would be kind to the little guys. They don't look much different than a large cricket to them, I guess.

Later.
Joel R

Wow Joel, is that your red male from before? Looking SWEET... nice dragon. Aww.. I'm really sorry to hear about your baby getting killed. That's a shame. The older dragons definitely will see anything small as a food source. Sorry for your loss Joel.

Joel R Jul 31, 2003 10:23 PM

Thanks, I can't believe how fast he is growing.

Your orange snow one you posted above is looking sweet too. There are sooo many nice ones out there now days. I can't imagine what's going to be out there in 5 yrs. (that's if we can still keep reptiles in 5 yrs.)

Thanks & talk to you later.

yea, he looks like a big one! it's neat seeing them grow up a few months and undergo all the changes.. it's a lot of fun to see that.

4 babies, one of which was a darling cinder baby. Somehow my breeder male found himself in one of the baby bins (took some work too). I would have lost them all as he is 20" and growing, but I cam in time to save the last three - but I could not save the Cinder that had it's head crushed in front of me (it had been sold too - it was quite a let down for both me and the buyer). She lived for but a moment on my hand before she took her lasp gasp. I moved all the babies to the other side of the room up high.

Now, that same booger of a breeder found his way into the female tank, only one of which is old enough to breed, so I hope he did not take advantage of the other two.

I have tried to figure out how he escapes, but I believe he actually jumps 1.5'to the top of the tank. (groan) Guess it's time for a lid.
