Not breeding

carolinareptile Jun 05, 2006 07:41 PM

Okay, for a few years i had a breeding pair of beardies. they would breed non stop, and i would sell the babies to pet stores. it was great.

Well, last year my male died, and i still had my female. I decided to get another male. i got one from lllreptile. this probally wasnt the best idea, but i figured they are pretty reputiable.

Now its breeding season, and the lizards arnt breeding at all. they havent even shown signs of breeding. I figured this is sorta weird for beardies. Both of the lizards look healthy, and i've had the male for a few months, he is very settled, and everything looks good.

How can i get them to breed? is their any tricks i could try? i have put them out side a few times, and their UV bulbs are very good (Reptisun 10.0 and a black light). I would realy like to breed them. Please help.

Thanks,
Andrew

Have you brumated the male and/or the female? How old is the female now? How old is the male? When put together, is either showing any interest in the other? Are there signs of aggression? Or are they just completely ignoring eachother? Oh and I do have to ask, are you completely sure your new dragon is in fact a male?
