Well, how did I do?

LeeBarrie Jun 05, 2006 08:14 PM

It seems that I have now joined the dark side. I went to Aarons house a couple weeks ago & picked out 2.2 baby hypos (I would have posted them sooner, but my computer crashed). My understanding is that they are possible supers so I just picked out what I thought were the prettiest ones.

Here's the first little female just after her 1st shed. The flash kinda washes her out so I'll have to get some outdoor pics sometime.

Also, no baby boas here yet. Bolivians should start dropping in 1 1/2 months, then others to follow. Womas are hatching now though. Very cool.

I've always had a bit of a soft spot for the hypos. As for the dark side, these are my only morphs & probably will be for quite some time. Though the albino blackheads are tempting.

You deserve a change. I hear Kevin is working with some morphs, lol.

Just don't forget the amarali, and womas!

LeeBarrie Jun 05, 2006 10:52 PM

All those stinky little fat, do nothing pythons. LOL. Amarili are on the way. I should get some crazy looking ones this year. Still probably 1 1/2 months away for the first girl.

The Womas started hatching yesterday. Here's a pic I just took of a 1 day old. Right out of the egg, they really are ugly ducklings. All you can really tell is the pattern & clean bellies. All the brown will be replaced by orange soon.

Take care

are going to be one of those people trying to get ahold of Albino Blackheads, don't lie!

I've got no shame in my morphs! Sharp girl I am getting from Ron.

I know those Blackhead babies are hard to get feeding, but if you start them out on boa morphs you may have a hard time switching them over to rats later. jk, you know I couldn't just let this slide. Truth is, I may not be far behind you (can you imagine my French Guianas in white?).

The little pains in the butt. We've still got one from last year that won't feed. Regis is beginning to hate them. Bud luck with the eggs this year, I lost the first clutch due to a crappy incubator. I still have 8 eggs from the 2nd clutch due in about a week. Then the hell starts anew.

Been very busy, but I'll try to call in the next couple days

ChrisGilbert Jun 06, 2006 08:33 AM

I seem to remember your "hypo" Womas, and Blackheads. Then your Blonde and Purple amarali!

You have to admit that a pure Bolivian amarali Albino would be pretty cool!

and what better day to announce your defection to the "Dark Side" than the eve of 06-06-06! Nice touch! LOL

Seriously though....I believe you will enjoy your new boas as much as any BCC. They are different, to be sure, but there are many similarities as well. Best of luck to you.

Be sure to post some photos of your hatchling Womas!

I've always liked hypos. So when Aaron produced these I finally said "What the heck".

As far as the differences with B.c.c., I've had & bred imperator but that was 20 years ago. I guess I just feed them like Womas & they are good to go. hehe. What I really like about the B.c.c is the challenge. They really are a whole different world.

Here's a pic of a baby that came out yesterday. Like I said to Chris, they really are ugly ducklings as newborns but the orange is a coming.

I'm just visiting. The hypos will probabaly be it for me. To many other species on my life list still left to work with (though that list is getting whittled down fairly well).

world of boas. When you watch those really nice hypos grow and color switch at night you will gain a greater appreciation of the hypos if not morphs in general. These are all just variations on the common boa pattern and color and each has it's unique appearance which can enrich your overall boa experience. Just like the awesome color in an excellent suriname boa, the eyes and tail of a snow boa, the color on the sides of jungle boas, the rich red of a bloody salmon and the scale variation in coral sunglows are just some of the many reasons why I like to work with both morphs and local specific boas.
You did very well. Enjoy those hypos and I expect they will become some of your favorites as I think really good quality hypos are still one of the most impressive of all boa morphs.
