WOW!! And to think, I just got back from Sanderson it seems!! Roy wanted me to post these for all you alterna freaks (including myself of course)so here they are. On June 3, Roy and his grandkids were coming back to Sanderson via highway 90 from Van Horn, and he finds a 15 inch male alterna 30 miles West of Sanderson in the flats. No cuts, no nothin anywhere around. He was traveling at 65 mph, saw a u-shaped object in the road, came back and by the time it was stretched out in the road in his lane now heading for the edge. Please forgive me as I am not exactly sure which one it is in the pics. Anyway, the next night, June 4, Roy takes his granddaughter out to 285 North, and finds a pair of alterna that most likely just bred, as the female was on the face of the cut heading out, and the male got spooked by the spotlight and hauled ass back into the crevice where Roy could not reach him. He came back an hour later with a dimmer light as not to spook the alterna again in case he were to see him, and the snake was no longer there. As he backed away from the cut, and looked down, the snake was on the ground at the base of the cut. He promptly bagged the snake. Temps. last night were 85 degrees at time of capture, winds out of the East and blowing 15-20 mph (mark that down Hollister), and am unsure of the barometric pressure. Let's just say it was good shall we?. So looks like a gravid female and a nice 2.1 trio!!! Cangrats to Roy and granddaughter for a job well done. ROCK ON ROY! DAMN I wish I lived in Sanderson! Enjoy the pics everyone.
