My zig zag laid eggs

HerpZillA Jun 05, 2006 11:35 PM

I know it's late. But I was not breeding. I bought a female zig zag amel corn I think I posted pics, and a male amel regular.

The female has not ate in a few week, but she was so thin, I thought no way she was gravid.

WRONG. As luck would have it, my son had his girlfriend over and she wanted to see some snakes. Then wanted to see something eat. OK, cool, a good time to retry that fussy amel zig zag female. A small pile of eggs. But on aspen! RRRRRRRRRRRR, but I think she just had them as they look great. I did not even count them. I had some sphagnum, and got them into a tub to keep them moist. First thing tomorrow I run to the store for supplies.

All I can say it has been a weird year. I also took in 2 more Amazon birds. So I have 1 blue and gold 1 double yellow head, 2 yellow napeds, and a bald blue front Amazon. Mostly rescues and all bonded wrong.

I'll try to get a pic when I transfer the eggs and add it to the thread.

That's about it for me, been busy so not on much.

You all take care.

Big Tom

Well I found 3 more eggs this morning. I guess they have a chance, even though they were laid in aspen. I obviously was lucky to check them yesterday and pulled them.

So 12 total. And I did not breed these. I bought the male and female from a friend. He had them together. I'm not sure if any babies can be zig zags from a normal amel male and a ZZ female? If I get nice male ZZ I may keep to breed to the mom? The male I hav is unrelated so I think that would be an F2.
