tegu hiding

easye921 Jun 06, 2006 12:36 PM

I just bought a columbian golden tegu two days ago. He is been hiding for two days straight now. Is that normal. I am worried because I have him on reptile carpet and i want to change it asap and i dont know if i should wait a while to do it. Also his hide is completely dark inside. should i get rid of that hide.

yes the hiding is normal. he is new and scared. do not remove that hide. he feels safe there. but yea the carpet is bad go ahead and switch it over, to dirt like you said on another forum

Go on and give the little guy atleast 6inches of top soil to dig in. The completely dark hide is a good thing, so leave it alone. At first they will hide like that sometimes. They are going to be in burrows and hides a lot anyways. That's just how they are.
