Snake wound? HELP?!

gemini12130 Jun 06, 2006 05:28 PM

My feeder mouse somehow managed to wound my snakes eye, Im not sure if it was her EYE that was wounded or above it, all I know is the area is bleeding and Im worried. Is there anything I should do specificly to fix this? Should I take her to a vet and have her eye checked out? or just let nature take care of it? Please help, this is the first time Iv had a problem with my snake, and Im not sure what to do.

we're here because a hobby became an obsession

some days you're the dog, some days you're the hydrant...don't know who started this saying but it's the truth

Yes you should defenitly take your snake to a vet. I worked for a vet for 9 years. The biggest concern for your snake is infection. I wish I could see some photos of your snake's wound. They would help to evaluate its condition. The chances are that the bite is not life threatening.

I hope you don't live somewhere where most animal hospitals are closed. If that is the case and you decide to take it to an emergency clinic the vet bill will be hurendous.

Good luck with your situation and keep us informed of the outcome.

clean up the blood, but dont touch the eye incase its "broke" then put alittle tea tree oil on the wound unless its on the eye. if its on the eye a vet visit is in order.

ps dont feed live anymore
