A few questions about hatchlings...

waspinator421 Jun 06, 2006 08:25 PM

Here are a few questions I have regarding hatchlings that I haven't been able to find answers to on my own:

1. How soon after hatching do you offer the first meal?

2. How soon after hatching are they ready to go to new homes? After first meal? Second meal? First shed? Other indicator(s)?

3. How does one go about pricing hatchlings?

Thanks for taking the time to read this. I've been trying to absorb as much information as possible, well in advance of things to come.

1. I usually offer a pinky right after their first shed. About 1/2 of mine will take a pinky on the first try. The other half usually take some sort of braining, lizard scenting, or other tricks to get them to feed. Once they've fed on a pinky they usually will take them on their own without to much prodding.

2. If they've eaten three times without scenting or other tricks I feel they are ready to be shipped.

3. Pricing????? They are worth exactly what a buyer is willing to pay for them. That's a question best answered when you have hatchlings to sell. Aubrey I'm really not trying to be a smart a$$ here but who knows what they'll be worth 2 or 3 years from now. Keep an eye on what the other breeders are selling them for.

Hey, thanks a bunch! Those answers are super helpful. Yeah, I wasnt sure the kind of answer I'd get for #3, but I figured I ask anyway.

Thanks again!
