Aren't Pyros one of the most beautiful snakes?

yes they are but they can also be the biggest pain in the butt. Mine has shed on her from 3 weeks ago so i am soaking her to get it off. she will also go off feed along w/my cali mnt king.

Yup

What's not to like?? Pyro's stay a nice size, there are lots of color variations to choose from, and for the most part they are not too jumpy.. I think everyone should have a pair or two!

Yes they are great . What air temps do you guys provide for your pyros?
I ask because mine is in a room that averages 82 during the summer but was thinking of putting him in basement which stays at 68 and turning on the UTH or low wattage overhead heat in one corner of tank (30 gallon long tank so plenty of room to regulate temp).
I have read 82 bit to warm if no cooler side for pyros.
Thanks
I keep mine in the garage where summer temps get up to 90 degrees inside the garage. I cool them down every night to near 70 degrees. I have had no problems and good fertlty for 3 years now. I also try to keep a damp spot n the cage for a localized spot that is probably a few degrees cooler than ambient.

Thanks thats helpfull info. I will keep him in the snake room aka my den its roughly 82 max 84 during summer . As the other rooms are freezing due to my wife blasting the AC.
I might put a small ac in there and lower temp at night to mid/high 70s to get temp change from day/night.
thanks again
My herp room is about the same temp as yours. My pyro has a cool rock-like hide, and a deli container half filled with water--entrance hole cut in the lid--where he soaks if he feels too warm. He's been fine for four years under these conditions.

I use damp moss in a deli cup as you know they will use it here and there and helps with shedding. Your herp room is that temp all yr long or just summer? Do your pyros eat all yr long ?
My Pyro went into a "sleep" last Jan and some of Feb wouldnt eat just hid in cool (75f) area of tank under hide cave. I didnt put him in cool basement but will this winter if happens again.
I never had a snake do that but read about it with pyros .He ate like a pig once "woke up" boy was I glad.
pyros are certainly up there.

I like Zonatas to though never kept any as read can be much harder than pyros as far as constant feeders and way more nervous.
Great snakes look wise . I prefer the Mt type kings as a whole just like the look .
Here's mine.
