Diamond In The Rough

My first mojave to normal breeding almost slugged out. I was pleasently surprised a few weeks ago when the only viable egg of the firs clutch of the season hatched out a beautiful female mojave.

This morning I checked on a clutch of seven pastel to normal eggs. I found one egg slit so I cut open the rest to find that all seven were pastels. Last year I produced a clutch where five out of five eggs hatched out pastels. Maybe I should try my luck in Vegas.

Best wishes to all.

Great looking Mojave. Eeeeasily one of the best I have seen.

I know if I hatched one like that it wouldn't have a snowball's chance in Satan's kitchen of ever being for sale. Keeper, keeper, keeper!

Please post updated pics as she grows. Thanks!

Beautiful mojave. As far as your pastel goes, are you sure you don't have a super pastel?

Thank for all your comments

Justin:

This is the male that produced back to back full pastel clutches. I bought him from John Romeo three years ago. John assures me that he is not a supper.

I'm not sure what's going on, but I'm enjoying it just the same.

The odds of a het (regular) pastel going 12 for 12 producing only pastels are 1 in 4,096. Much better odds than the lottery but if both his parents where pastels maybe he really is a low end super. It would be nice if you can always see the line between high end het pastel and low end homozygous pastel but maybe there is some overlap. Keep breeding him and let us know how it comes out!

Kingofspades Jun 08, 2006 01:45 AM

Yeah, chances are if he gives out another full clutch of pastels, you have yourself a low end super.
How sweet would that be eh?

were both clutches of all pastels from the same pastel? if they were than maybe your pastel is actualy a poor super
