Do corn snakes normaly come in gray in the wild? I saw one that looked like an anery or something. Is this something normal?

Not pure grey(grey on grey), no. The wild corn is a variable snake, described by Peterson as having "Reddish blotches with black borders of varying intensity on a ground of gray, tan, yellow, or orange." There are a huge number of morphs out there from years of captive and selective breeding. The grey pattern on a grey backgroung is one.

What about a grey rat snake? I guess I am unsure of the difference between a corn and rat snake. But I know the look a heck of a lot like each other, and I am pretty sure there is a natural grey rat.

Do gray rats have saddles like a corn?

Yes they have checkered bellies. I am not sure if it is true for the yellows and greys, but on black ratsnakes the checkers don't show up on the first 1/3 of the belly.

Yes, the grey rat is basically different shades of grey. Both the cornsnake and the grey rat are North American Ratsnakes.

I live in Alabama. So I figure gray rat snakes will be native. I gave him a look over when I picked him up from my sisters and he looked a bit thin, so I offered him a meal for the road. Suprised me, but he took it. F/T white mouse.
