EGGBOUND UPDATE

kingsnaken Jun 07, 2006 08:39 PM

After hearing from Paul Weaver with some advice, I got offered some more help from a local petshop owner. He has done this before. He removed 2 syringes full of egg mass from my snake's side. He then coaxed the egg out, gently. He said it made it a lot easier because the egg was right at the cloaca. Today was the day that the vets wanted to do surgery. They said they wouldn't aspirate the egg due to injuring the snake. The egg has been in her since May 26. She seems to be doing fine, but only time will tell. Thanks for all the help. Derek

Glad to hear it seems to have worked out with somewhat less invasive measures. The thought of surgery just seems so risky.

I am glad you safely got that egg out of her. I hope she recovers quickly for you. My tangerine is recovering very well from surgery. I of course didnt want such an evasive procedure done on her, but due to the oddness of her situation I was scared not to do whatever it took to get them out safely and quickly. Next time I see this issue in one of my collection, I think I will try just aspirating them and letting the female pass them on her own. I hope there isnt a next time though!
