So I finally decided that I liked the cage idea made from the 5'X 5' sheets of birch. Only one problem...can't find 5X5 sheets. Not just of birch, of any wood. All the people I've asked around here (Kansas City MO area) look at me like I've got 2 heads, any ideas where I can get it?

Try a cabinet manufacturer ...

I have heard of it being found at lumber yards and even superstores, but your best bet is a cabinet or hardwood supply shop. It is mostly known as Baltic Birch plywood but I have also heard of it listed as Russian or Finnish Birch Plywood.

Occasionally you'll find a wood dealer who stocks a product called Europly instead of Baltic Birch plywood. It is a very similar product but comes in 4x8 instead of 5x5 sheets. That is the only situation I can think of where you won't be able to find it.

I wish I had a Schutte Lumber here in North Dakota, I would never leave! LOL
