i dont know if this will help but...neither of my bloods have done that, but I had a bull snake that got a puffy throat after he ate. it lasted for a couple weeks and then he was fine. the first occurance of this happening however was after he got his head stuck trying to get out of his tank, although the swelling did start to occur until a week later when i fed him.

If I recall correctly, this subject was mentioned briefly on this Forum some time ago...I have seen swelling or balloning of the "throat" after interupting the snake at the water dish. I think Angel said he has observed the same phenomonen. Your observation sounds similar. Odd stuff, but apparently harmless. Still, it would be nice to attribute cause to the condition...

yea....it is certainly possible that i inturupted it drinking....it drinks alot right after eating...it has seemed more aggresive in the last few days but i think it was just hungry....ill have to continue to watch it and see what happens

I have a male that will exhibit this behavior and it appears to be due to excessive shed skin stuck in his nostrils. It only happens during the winter season when it gets dry in the cage. Once I clean the nares out, he resumes his puffing less the theatric throat swelling. Borneos are big blow hards for the most part

one of my redtails will do that. I went so far as to think RI and take him to the vet. still does it even after treatment for possible RI. I found out after seeing a friend's boa do the same thing that it is just an "air pocket" of sorts.
