A @#$% CRIME!!!

iamsnakeshack Jun 09, 2006 12:15 PM

I was in line at my local pet shop when a man walk in and asked,” What do ball pythons eat?” I found that to be odd so I started to ask him how he had the snake set up. I asked if he had a good temperature gradient, he didn’t have any heat or light! He didn’t even know that they needed water, BUT this man is not the reason I am so ANGREY! You see, the man found the snake in a fish tank IN A DUMPSTER at his apartment complex! Two blocks away was a pet shop that specialized in reptiles! WHY couldn’t they have, at least, left it on the doorstep!?!

I managed to talk the man (who couldn’t stomach feeding mice to a snake) into giving me the ball. It had at least 3 to 4 sheds over it’s eyes and was technically blind, and was very thin. After some soakings and some TLC the little ball is eating and doing great. He ate two mice last night (6 since I got him) and has had a perfect shed (his eyes are just fine).

I partially blame chain-pet-stores (4 blocks in the other direction) for not making sure that people who by reptiles are set up properly, AND I CAN NOT EXCUSE THE TOTAL LACK OF CONSERN FOR THE LIFE OF A PET! I wish I had a better idea of who did this so I could tern them in for prosecution!

At least he is getting good care now. Good luck with him.
