I recently had the fortune of finding a nice pair of juvenile bullsnakes fifteen feet away from each other in the Kankakee area.

I didn't plan on collecting any, but I have been wanting a pair of bulls for a while, so I figured this was probably as locality-specific as I would ever get. I took the little ones home.

I have been pleasantly surprised by the snakes. They both eat f/t as if they have their whole lives. After just a month or so, neither rattles or hisses, they just want more mice!

I have not experienced keeping pits before and I am amazed at the size of rodent they can swiftly swallow, and at the rate at which they digest it.

They are amazing little snakes, and I am very glad to have them.

Here is the little male. The female is a bit larger, and starting to show some real nice pattern variation.

I am hoping he grows up to look somewhat like this larger male we found the same day.

Those are phenomenal looking. You are very lucky to have scored such a great pair, good luck with them. Tom Stevens

Hey Matt post a pic of the one that was in shed that day!!! You might be enjoying how well they eat now, but just wait until they are around 6 feet. I was talking to Mike, the guy with the 7 footer, and he is going to bring it to the next herp meeting so I can sex it. He has that thing eating little rabbits!! I am still really impressed with that male from later in the day. Man I wish I would have remembered extra batteries.

HAHAHA

I figured you would spot this. You're right, that larger male from later in the day is a 10!

I really hope these turn out that nice.

Man, the first meal I fed to the female was a live adult mouse. For a king of that size it would have been a borderline too-large meal. She gulped it down in like a minute. The next day, there was no bulge, these things are amazing. I bet the adults take down huge prey occasionally in the wild.

I will get some better pics of them sometime soon.

yeah that larger one is a definite 10! it looks like the little one will probably turn out just as nice down the road. here's a pic of an 01 kankakee which is solid black & gold. he's actually much blacker looking than the flash allowed. i like this look as well.

Neat, I found one that I believe has similar colors this weekend. He was huge, and in a shed, so it's hard to tell. Also found a smaller one with the contrasty black and white, and a handfull of others that were all in sheds. I will post pics sometime soon.
