I haven't heard of this. In fact, while the high contrast of babies usually becomes more uniform, the iridescence seems to get stronger with age. Could your snake be in shed?

Snakes appear iridescent because of the way colorless proteins in the scales reflect light. During or just before a shed, the light coming from the proteins is obscurred. I suppose a snake could stop making those proteins for one reason or another and lose the iridescence.

Last time you posted you were having trouble getting the snake to eat. Has it eaten yet? Brazilian Rainbows do look less iridescent when they are opaque before shedding. They can also become less iridescent if they are dehydrated. Dehydration will also cause them to go off feed. What is the humidity in the snake's cage?
