Help help help!!!

2 of my bearded dragons just hatched...I'm not sure how long they've been out of the shell, but they are out, and looking half dead. They aren't moving much, but some....and I'm really not sure what to do. I was expecting 2 more months until some eggs hatched...I thought this batch of eggs were infertile. (I ALMOST tossed them all last night). I've worked with leopard geckos in the past, and they've always been really nasty and spunky out of the shell.

So what do I do? I've read a lot of hatchling care, but it's all gone from my head now. I've read a lot on the hatchlings, but I'm not sure what to do with them as they are in this state. I moved them into a 10 gallon glass tank with a heat lamp to try to stimulate them.

Anything else? For those of you who have hatched dragons before, what is a good first step? I'm not sure if these guys are going to make it....1 dragon I looked at is actually missing a hand...the hand and fingers did not develop. I guess that could be because it's the dragons first clutch?

first of all, bearded dragons eggs typically hatch in about 2 months depending on the right temp. i have my incubator set at 84 degrees and all but one clutch hatched in 60-65 days. i had one clutch go a bit longer but not much.

a missing hand or foot can happen. this may happen from inbreeding, temps too low or too high, temps fluctuating in the incubator, hatching too soon, etc.

i do keep my babies in the incubator for 24 hours or so after hatching. some leave them for 48 hours. i then put 5-6 dragons per rearing bin, i use rubbermaid bins for them. they will not need to be fed for the first day or so, they are still full of their yolk from the egg. at least in my experience. i offer crickets to them the night of their first day in their rearing bins. if they do not eat i try the next morning, and so on.

remember hatchlings need higher basking spots than adults. 110-115 for my hatchlings. i do not go past 120. 80 degrees at the lowest in their "cool" areas.

good luck! hope all goes well
