WCBS (New York, New York) 08 June 06 Escaped Iguana Makes For The Sky In Florida
Davie, Fla.: An iguana that climbed up a power pole was brought back down to safety on Wednesday, but not before stirring a whole lot of trouble.
The 2-foot pet iguana named "Honcho" escaped from his cage and climbed up the power pole, reports WFOR-TV.
While the lizard appeared to be cool, calm, and collected while perched high atop the pole, Donnie Wench was feeling a bit more queasy while watching his beloved pet in harm's way.
A neighbor called 911 and told them there was an iguana on top of a power line. Davie Fire Rescue called out Florida Power & Light Co. whose workers switched off the power before heading up in a cherry picker to grab the wayward pet.
After the rescue, neighbors applauded the crew for the quick and safe rescue.
"Honcho's" cage has since been fixed so he cannot do any more outdoor climbing.
