Should I be getting worried

Rottenweiler9 Jun 11, 2006 10:22 AM

Hello,

I just my male ETB from Ed. I have him in a little rubbermaid with PVC pipes. I have water on the bottom but enough to just cover him. I spray him each morning and he gets the light cycle. His rubbermaid left at 80 degrees.

Ed told me to try to feed him a couple days after getting him. I tried to give him a pinky and he did not go for it. I did buy fuzzies but I am not sure if it is to big for him because I do not want problems.

Does everything seem OK. Is cycling the light important, or can I just leave the light off.

Thank you

Jeff

Jeff, emeralds are not interested in pinkies or fuzzies. You need to get crawlers or hoppers. We always start our neos out on hopper mice. Did Ed say whether it was taking f/t or live?

Ed said it was F/T. I have been told feed small the hoppers are bigger then he is around and I was just afraid to try the fuzzies that look like little mice so maybe that will work.

I think the cardinal rules of feeding ETB's, ie: infrequently and relatively small prey items, are taken a little too literally at times. The rules are sound enough, but their "religious" application stems from fear of the dreaded "re-gurg" syndrome. With a healthy cbb animal, some deviation will not result in disaster...

Thank you. Nice ETB. I just don't want to mess the thing up since he was not really cheap and I think he is cool.

He'll do fine for you. Love to see a pic when he gets settled in...
