Beefy is a momma:

Beefy, my large southern ringneck that eats pinks turned out to be gravid. I really did not know or expect her to be gravid as she was with a couple males months ago and I did not see any breeding behavior or copulation. In any case, I found 4 crushed eggs in her cage with her. It was a couple or more days after she laid them and they looked somewhat flattened and shrunken inward. I have given up that they were still good, and I have to admit that I was on my way to my scarlet snakes cage with them when I decided to at least give them a chance on some moisened orchid moss. I did, and 2 days later the eggs popped out plump and healthy looking.

Dan

Here are the eggs and beefy. She eats pinks from time to time but not as often as before and I've resorted back to scenting them with frogs and she has been a bit picky lately.

Hello Dan,

Thanks for your professional quality pictures. I really missed Beefy's jumbo size figure, LOL. What kind of camera are you using ?

Dan, I've had southern eggs shriveled so bad I KNEW they were bad but after putting in some moist sphagnum moss for a few days they plumped right back and hatched with no problems.

I picked up a Northern female a few months ago under a tarp. Set up a beautiful terrarium for her, mulch, moss, and a ton of food items. A week later, cleaning the cage, I found 7 eggs. I put them in a moist bed of fine Verm in a small Sterilite container, and put them in the corner of the cupboard where it stays 78-82 degrees. They turned a very mottled color, and some became bloated on one side. last week, the tips went dark, and I was sure they were toast. Lo and behold, a few hours ago, I open the container, and one was completely flat. I was pretty dismayed, until I looked at another and saw a tiny head sticking out! The collapsed one had hatched, and crawled under the edge of the paper towel I lined the container with.
I now have 2 out of the egg, 2 "headers", and I pinched the other 3 to prevent drowning.
