swallowing tail first

spentchange Jun 11, 2006 04:07 PM

i just got my garter and i notice that he doesn't care about how he swallows his fish. i always thought that i could hurt him to swallow a fish tail first. maybe since they are small feeder fish it doesn't matter. well i thought i would ask to see if anyone knows if this is a problem.

smaller feeder fish are no problem if they go down backwards. Larger ones can catch the fins and be hard to swallow and cause problems.

how large is large enough to cause problems. right now he eats red minnows and small goldfish. the minnows barley have any fins but the little goldfish have some. i think they are to soft but let me know.
