Last year I took a class in Tropical Watershed and Coastal Ecology where we traveled to Costa Rica for a week to take water samples and study them for nitrates, ammonia, phosphorus, etc. The place we were staying was raising C. acutus to be released into the wild. I was able to talk the researchers into letting me handle the juveniles!
We also went to the Tarcoles River Bridge and saw some extremely large adults. The trash in the water was horrible.
