does my snake have an infection

i noticed on my snow cornsnake a small little cut or something on him and now there is a purpleish streak on the top of him where the cut is. is this an infection? any advice. i plan on calling the vet tomorrow but im scared right now and want to know if there is something i can do for him. please help!

I'm no vet, so take this accordingly. I've treated some rescued kingsnakes and a gophersnake that in some cases had abrasions, missing scales and one with a cut. I used Neosporin on all, and all were fine months later. Obviously, these snakes had surface wounds that were not badly infected.

Hopefully someone with reptile medicine knowledge will respond and either support or refute the use of topical drugstore creams on reptiles.
