Speaking of Harly (quins)....>>

LindaH Jun 11, 2006 10:37 PM

I snagged this young man from Tim not too long ago. To me, he's Mr. McDreamy

Anyway, I got him to put with my female Hypo Harlequin,

but I have this cute Hypo Jungle girl. According to the ultrasound, she happened to be growing some follicles

and I got to thinking - what if? And I started thinking "what if" more and more. I talked to different folks about "what if". Some said "yay" and some said "nay". I finally decided, what the heck and put them together.

I'm curious about what they will produce. I guess time will tell...or not... Thanks for looking

now all you need is an albinism gene in there somewhere and the insanity would really begin...lol

LindaH Jun 12, 2006 09:07 AM

I'm afraid I'm already tetched a little, though

I'm also an oddball that doesn't "get" the whole Albino Jungle thing. I know it's just me thats weird, but I keep asking myself "why"? In fact, the more I see of Jungles, the more I love the regular ones the best. (imo) They seem to lose some of their beauty when we hypo them. I guess I have really grown to love the bright yellows, halloween oranges, thick black borders and all the other purples and peaches that seem to creep into the base colors of the regular Jungles. I have a Hypo Jungle and I love her, but the regulars are sooo pretty. All that is gone when we turn them into Albinos...sigh. Oh well, each to his own - and variety is the spice of life, they say. A Colombian T pos Albino Jungle might be cool, though, because they have so much bright orange in their tail markings and natural yellows in the base coloring. That might be gorgeous.

That a super hypo/Harlequin/Jungle/T pos. albino would cause the earth to shift on its axis, creating a wobble that might send the planet spinning wildly out of control, effectively ending all life as we now know it....BE CAREFUL!!!!!

I know!! It could be dangerous, but it's sure fun to think about.

The little stinker is in shed in that bottom breeding pic. He has kept her in his clutches during his whole shed cycle! What a funny little trooper, huh? I just now came in from work and he is about halfway out of his old skin. BTW...I got checkmark by your name I'm thinkin' the babies will be mighty purty, even if I can't tell what's what !!!!

I wish you the best of luck with that litter. I hope you get super jungles. Wouldnt it be nice to find out that the harly trait is related to the jungle trait?

BNixon Jun 12, 2006 07:29 AM

Linda, they both look awesome....the only thing I can really think of that is negative in this breeding is.....Harlys tend to throw abberent animals so when breeding your Harly to your Hypo Jungle what if a baby has an abberent patter could be linked to the Harly line maybe im off base here but that possibility just crossed my mind...good luck either way im sure the babies will be insane...your ghost girl drop yet or is she still being stubborn?

I know. That's what I meant in my post about the "yays" and the "nays"...and why I wondered "what if" so much. If the aberrant genes end up mingling around, it could be hard to tell what's what. What made me decide to do it is that people have bred Salmon Jungles to regular Salmons and get pretty babies. I'm doing the same thing with a non-Salmon hypo - - with a twist.

Maybe I'll enlist the aid of the forum, if I'm lucky enough to end up with a litter (knock on wood). We'll cuss and discuss it, and if no one can agree I'll just keep them all

If I'm lucky enough to get a litter, I figure the worst I can get is pretty babies!

The Ghost girl delivered some beautiful orange orbs this winter along with some stillborn premies.

I have another Ghost female that is (fingers crossed) preggers right now. She's not due for a couple more months.
