what a precious little flat baby you have! i've seen them in action at our local zoo here, and they really seem to dig having flat rocks and things to climb over and under.

the sleeping pic is the cutest!

Hey, how is your baby redfoot doing now? What other tortoises/turtles do you have?

"junior" is doing wonderfully, thank you for asking! right now he is an "only child"... we toss around the idea occasionally of getting him a friend, but i dont think that we will anytime in the near future, since space is kind of limited where we are currently renting.

he will be three years old in october... this is his most recent picture...

Curious about your space requirement. I am not convinced that two torts need twice as much space as one? If one tort has a space of say 9 or 10 square feet then the second tort only uses up about 1/2 a square foot of space then wouldn't you need only an extra 1/2 foot? I know that assumes they get along. If they do not get along then I doubt you could make a pen big enough for them to avoid each other. Many people get a second dog and they don't add on to their house when they do. Now I am not suggesting crowding a zillion torts in a small pen but lets face it, If one tort is sitting basking the other essentially has the whole pen to roam around in. Tom

well, right now junior is... well, i haven't measured him in along time, but i'd estimate roughly 6 inches in length. he currently lives in a habitat i made for him out of a plastic sandbox (so very easy to clean and way cheaper than an aquarium!) that's about 3'x5'. he also gets to roam my room freely for at least a couple of hours a day.

my main concern is that i don't have room for a habitat that is very much larger, and i'd hate to risk crowding him...

here's a (not very good) picture of his setup...
