Weird Behaviour ???

Turt-Liz-Wiz Jun 12, 2006 10:26 AM

I noticed my frog has started hiding completely, by burrowing under the moss substrate. Is this normal? Now he/she's climbing again, which is a relief. BTW, he/she also has little scars near the lips that resemble pink ulcers, any ideas? thanks

Sounds like nose rub, if its not new to your tank then its probably stressed from something. As for burrowing maybe its not moist enough or too hot, or its nothing at all (what kind of frog is it?). For the nose rub you can apply neosporin (w/ NO painkiller) to the affected area to help it heal.

Hey, I have a white's with a little spot on his nose that looks like a rubbed snout, but when he went to the vets for his checkup, the vet said that its just its coloration. She's seen lots of rubbed snouts and it just didn't match.

Anyways, I'm not in no way saying that its not a rubbed snout. just a little storytime there.

like they said. what kind of frog are we speaking of?

I am going to echo it.. what kind of frog is it? I saw whites in your signature, so for now, I will assume that is what you are talking about.

If it is areas are raw or open, you need to treat them, if it is just discolored, keep you eye on it. If it doesn't change shape, size or color, I would not worry about it. Is it wild capture? Alot of times they will have scares from the wild or from the import process.

As for the burrowing.. Tree frogs burrowing in the dirt is a sign of either temp or humidity problems. Can be to high or to low with either.

Anyway, get a caresheet and double check your temp, humidity etc..
