Fungal infection ID

mfrevola Jun 12, 2006 05:50 PM

I've been reading through some of the old posts, and related to my previous question, what does a fungal infection look like? Are there some tell-tale signs I should be aware of?

Looking at my biomedical book for reptiles, it looks like most fungal infections have some type of lesion on the scales. Some look like lumps or bumps and others discolor the scales.

MegF-
This seems like the best thread to post my question. I've got an 8mo. old male gtp, but that's about all I know about it. I got it at the Daytona Breeder's Expo, and wasn't all read-up on things to look for. I've been keeping him in a tupperware file box with the humidity up (75-85%) and the temp in the correct range (75-85deg). He just shed two weeks ago, and ate his first f/t fuzzy earlier this week. This spot has developed recently (see pic below), and I'm wondering if someone (specifically, you) could tell me if you've seen it before, and what may be causing it. My girlfirend had a veiled chameleon that got sick, but the animals don't live near each other, and noone handled both within a small time (so I don't think it could have come from the chameleon). My first guess is that it's a fungal inf, but I don't have much experience with trpoical reptiles. Please help. Thanks.
