Caramel lines

Chas3323 Jun 12, 2006 07:54 PM

How many caramel lines are there? I am talking about lines that can be traced back to WC. Just curious what options I have when shopping for one
. Whats the difference between them? Color, size, feeding response, kinks....just wanting to know. Thanks

contact Joe and Wes at MKR. They have hatched alot of Caramels and so far "no kinks" and they are beautiful. I have a male I purchased in 05" from MKR, "VPI NERD" line. I just hatched an SK line Caramel.

I am working with six lines that are from WC.

The Upscale reptiles/Flora and Fauna line is the best looking by far and so far has no kinking.

To the best of My knowledge there are 5 different carmel lines. Plus possible 2 new ones this year.
.
Upscale line Doug Beard and Janie Malsin
Bell line Mark and Kim Bell
Nerd Line Kevin (Satan)... Self proclaimed...Sorry Just dont know how to spell his last name.
VPI line Dave and Tracy Barker
SK line Dan and Colette Southerland.
Possibly there are more.. Please feel free to add if I missed one...

So far the best 2 crosses I have seen from one line to another were done by Stan Chiras from Upscale to NERD and MKR..Joe and Wes.from VPI To SK I saw one of their first ones as an adult last year and It was as nice as the upscale line...
I also feel that Kinking in Carmels Is probably more related to inbreeding rather than genetic flaws although it may be both.
I personally do not plan on diversifying our carmel production as we are working with outcrossed hets and double hets for Carmel Glow from the Upscale line And until I get proven wrong about the outcrossing thing I will stay with this line...
